The Fletcher North Korea Working Group invites you to an exciting opportunity to learn about the critical role Americans are playing at hospitals all over North Korea from the Founder of the Eugene Bell Foundation', Dr. Stephen Linton.
The Eugene Bell Foundation is a humanitarian aid organization that has worked with the North Korean government to address the most critical public health concerns, starting with tuberculosis in 1997 and focusing on multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in 2007. Eugene Bell Foundation is a faith-based charitable 501(c)3 organization, founded by Dr. Stephen W. Linton in 1995. North Korean authorities have offered the Eugene Bell Foundation uncharacteristic access and strong support to pursue the goal of stopping the rampant growth of MDR-TB in North Korea by treating all new cases of the disease by 2018.
Dr. Stephen Linton was born in Philadelphia in 1950 and grew up in Korea, where his father was a third generation Southern Presbyterian missionary. He is a visiting associate of the Korea Institute, Harvard University. Linton is currently Chairman of The Eugene Bell Foundation, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides humanitarian aid to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Dr. Linton's additional past experiences include: thirty years of teaching and research on Korea, thirty-four years of travel to North Korea (seventy trips since 1979), and twenty-five years of humanitarian aid work in North Korea. Dr. Linton received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, a Masters of Divinity from Korea Theological Seminary, and a Masters of Philosophy and a Ph.D. in Korean Studies from Columbia University.
